The Interprise Accounting Module, AKA the Nominal, does everything you would expect an expertly designed nominal ledger to do and a little bit more.
You start with the chart of accounts and these accounts receive all the transactions from the outlying modules which ultimately allow you to build your Trial Balance and from this your Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Financial Accounts. You certainly get all the time saving features like journal templates for recurring journals and bad debt provision/write off, prepayments and accruals.
But it is the little advanced features that show the pedigree and experience of the designers.
The nominal periods are closed behind you so that once the Financial Accounts for the month are produced they are not altered by later postings into that date range – a posting to an earlier date automatically goes to the first open period. You can add and remove or edit the dates for periods in the current and future financial years giving flexibility for changes in accounting date; while posting to past periods is allowed via a separate routine to give you total control.
Accounts are grouped intuitively with the ability to add as many Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet Layouts as you need and group the accounts together in truly flexible ways.
Where the clear benefits of Interprise show themselves are in the retention of historical information. The VAT Returns are done from the Accounting Module and you have the ability to re-print and analyses every VAT return ever done on the system – so you never need to worry about losing the printed VAT return again; every VAT Return can be printed out in all its detailed glory ... for ever.
